As part of the 1.SS-Panzerkorps Leibstandarte you will have a chance of joining the ranks amongst two separate Aufklärungs (Reconnaissance) formations; armored and light reconnaissance infantry. You also have the choice of joining the Panzer Grenadier (Armored Infantry) or Panzer (Armored) formations. This will depend on what you are looking for as a re-enactor. Despite your choice you will need to contact the unit leader of the specific formation you are looking to join.



As part of the Pz.Aufklärungs Kompanie (Armored Reconnaissance Company) you will be assigned to one of our armored reconnaissance squads which utilizes infantry mounted in numerous light and armored vehicles. This formation is designated as the Panzerkorps “Eyes” on the battlefield and it’s used to either reconnoiter a particular area or act as the lead formation (Schwerpunkt) in combat. As part of the Aufklärungs Kompanie (Reconnaissance Company) you will be assigned to one of our light infantry reconnaissance squads which utilize numerous light vehicles and bicycles. This formation is used as a light, fast moving “Shock Troop” for the Panzerkorps. It is not hindered by the larger, slower moving vehicles and is designed to hit and move quickly on the battlefield. It can be utilized as a small scouting force or to move in fast, hold a position and await heavier equipped follow-up forces.
